In these testing times, we all need to keep our creative juices flowing and the mind from wandering into dangerously negative territory. Before I can do any work at the moment, I go for a walk every morning. I try to photograph anything I have not looked at before. I mean, we all walk past the same places every day and often we don't even notice the detail because we are seeing but not really looking.
This morning I walked through the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, past the Vauxhall City Farm, where the Llamas, Goats and Shetland ponies were out. Always great to see some animals in the midst of the city.
I took a closer look at this magnificent building a bit further along the Thames Embankment, near Lambeth Bridge. The China Works Building was originally built in 1876 as the head office of Royal Doulton Pottery. The facade of the building is covered in amazing brickwork, carvings and ceramic tiles. I love the colour combination of pale terracotta and indigo.
